New England Excess Exchange is seeking a Commercial Lines Assistant Underwriter to join our growing team!

The Commercial Lines Assistant Underwriter will support the underwriting process for personal lines insurance products. You will work closely with underwriters to evaluate risk, analyze applications, and ensure compliance with company guidelines and regulatory standards. 

How You Will Contribute 

  • Examines such documents as applications, supplemental questionnaires, inspection reports, and loss runs to determine degree of risk from factors including but not limited to loss history, condition of property, and valuation. 

  • Work with Binding Authority Underwriters when underwriting new and renewal risks, ensuring that all required information is obtained, proper applications are complete, quotes and binders are confirmed in writing, policies are issued promptly and accurately, state filings where applicable are made, and taxes are paid according to appropriate state laws. 

  • Frequently coordinate and correspond with other internal and external departments via phone, mail and email to respond to questions, investigate and resolve issues, and follow up on outstanding items. 

  • Assist in the training of other personnel as directed, not limited to instructing and training processors and assistants, review indications, quotes, binders, submissions, and policies for completeness and accuracy. 

  • Ensure all correspondence and requests are documented and attached to the appropriate file in the appropriate system(s). 

Skills & Experience to Be Successful  

  • Minimum education  High School Diploma or GED. 

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite 

  • Exceptional telephone demeanor 

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. 

  • 1 – 2 years' experience in a similar position 

Pay Range

$26.44 - $26.44 Hourly

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
