DescriptionThe purpose of this position is to spread the message of the restored Church of Jesus Christ around the world. This is accomplished in part through the creation of engaging, unified messaging with greater reach and efficiency. Church messages are delivered via television, film, web, print, mobile, social media, and other delivery channels in multiple languages, always seeking new, improved, and innovative ways to bring the world unto Christ. This position is responsible for ensuring that all translation and interpretation functions within an Area (or multiple Areas) perform their responsibilities effectively and that Church doctrine and policy are correctly rendered in Church materials approved for translation. Customers include departments, Areas, and members throughout the world.
Responsibilities- Provides organizational vision, leadership, supervision, and training for translation office language supervisors and multi-language supervisors using policies,procedures, and tools provided by the headquarters Translation Department.
- Monitors and analyzes performance metrics across assigned language offices, identifying trends and implementing interventions as needed to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of translation projects and interpretation services.
- Supervises some languages directly, as needed.
- Ensures that project, people, and financial management conform to standards by performing operational reviews to verify compliance with approved policies and procedures.
- Supports the coordination of sensitive and confidential requests as needed.
- Coordinates the resolution of issues or concerns with the Area Translation Manager, or, as instructed, with the Global Language Coordination Manager assigned to the Area.
- Coordinates the resolution of human resources, financial, technical, and legal needs related to translation and interpretation operations in assigned language offices, including recruitment, hiring, CAP, and local budgets.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Management, Languages, Linguistics, Translation, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Alternatively, at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in leadership, supervisory, project management, or operational roles.
- Experience in translation, localization, or language services operations strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in managing people, budgets, and projects in a multicultural or international environment.
- Familiarity with translation technologies, localization tools, and evolving industry trends (including AI-supported workflows) is an advantage.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Sound knowledge of Church doctrine, policy, and organization is expected.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills are required.
