Copywriter
About the role
Our online store is where thousands of customers meet our range of Bibles, books and gifts every day — and the words on those pages do the selling. We're looking for a copywriter with a strong editor's eye to own that copy: writing fresh product descriptions, tightening the ones we've inherited, and keeping one consistent voice across the whole catalogue.
This is a mid-level role, equal parts writing, and editing. You've done this work before and don't need to be taught the fundamentals — you'll be trusted to set the standard for product copy and be the last set of eyes before it goes live.
What you'll do
- Write and optimize product descriptions, category pages and collection copy for the online store
- Edit and proofread copy from buyers, suppliers, and marketing — grammar, accuracy, house style, consistency
- Build and maintain our style guide, and keep product data clean and correctly described
- Apply practical on-page SEO: keyword research, titles, meta descriptions, internal linking
- Write supporting copy for email campaigns, promotions, and on-site banners
- Work closely with buyers, the ecommerce team and marketing to get new ranges online accurately and on time
What you'll bring
- 3–5 years' experience in copywriting, copy editing, or ecommerce content
- Excellent written English
- A genuinely sharp eye for detail — typos bother you
- Solid working knowledge of SEO fundamentals for ecommerce
- Confidence with spreadsheets, and with a CMS, PIM, or ERP (NetSuite experience is a plus)
- The organization to juggle many small deliverables at once and hit deadlines without being chased
- Familiarity with the Christian book, Bible and gift market, and comfort writing for that audience
Nice to have
- Exposure to Shopify, WooCommerce or a similar platform
- Experience owning or contributing to a brand style guide
- A portfolio of published product or brand copy
What we offer
- Hybrid working — 1 – 2 days (per week) in office
- A permanent and full-time role
