Montel News seeks a journalist to cover energy price developments, policy and company news from one of the most dynamic and important sectors in Denmark as parental leave cover, from June 2026 to the end of the year.


The position will involve writing stories on the Danish power and gas market, including news about market drivers, companies in the sector and policy and regulatory developments.

You will join one of Europe’s largest editorial desks dedicated to energy, and a fast-growing team with reporters across the continent.

The position will suit news-driven reporters looking to take their journalism skills to the next level in a busy newswire environment with a global reach. Freelancers will also be considered.

The successful candidate will be able to write articles quickly under time pressure, generating exclusive and on-diary stories.

Main skills required
  • Excellent language skills in Danish and English.

  • Familiarity with energy markets and/or financial journalism will be beneficial but not essential.

  • Some data journalism experience, or at the least an affinity with numbers, is a bonus.

Key responsibilities
  • Covering the Danish energy industry with a key focus on the power market.

  • Following Denmark’s transition to a carbon-neutral economy.

  • Developing contacts and establishing relationships with companies in the energy sector.

  • Being up to date with relevant policy developments at national and EU level.

  • Synthesising complex information quickly.

Terms

The terms of employment will depend on the candidate’s experience and the location of the position.

The right candidate will ideally report from Denmark, with other locations also possible.
