Introduction

We are looking for a SAP BusinessObjects (SAP BOBJ) Developer to design, develop, and support enterprise reporting and analytics solutions. The role focuses on building and maintaining BOBJ reports, universes, and semantic layers to enable reliable business reporting across finance, supply chain, HR, and operational domains in a controlled, secure environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and enhance SAP BusinessObjects reports (e.g., Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports) aligned to business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Universes using Information Design Tool (IDT) / Universe Design Tool (UDT).
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications (FRS/TRS).
  • Build data models and optimize queries for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Perform unit testing, support UAT, and resolve defects with clear root cause analysis.
  • Administer and support BOBJ platform services (where applicable): CMC, user roles, folders, schedules, publications.
  • Monitor and improve report performance (query optimization, indexing guidance, scheduling best practices).
  • Ensure compliance with security and governance requirements (role-based access, audit readiness, documentation).
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation and knowledge transfer to client teams.
  • Experience integrating with SAP BW / BW4HANA / S/4HANA reporting sources.
  • Knowledge of BOBJ security design (groups, roles, access levels) and information governance.
  • Exposure to ETL tools (e.g., Data Services), data quality, or BI architecture.
  • Public sector / regulated environment exposure (documentation, change control, audit compliance).
  • ITIL familiarity.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Relevant qualification in IT / Computer Science / Information Systems (Diploma, Degree etc.).
  • Minimum 5 years experience in SAP BOBJ development/support (depending on level).
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Web Intelligence (WebI)
    • Crystal Reports (advantage if strong)
    • IDT/UDT (Universe design)
    • SAP BusinessObjects CMC (security, scheduling, publications)
  • Solid SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SAP HANA, SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Experience with incident/problem management and working in SLA-driven environments.
