The Cointelegraph News Department is dedicated to delivering up-to-the-minute coverage, ranging from high-stakes breaking stories to comprehensive reports on the global crypto ecosystem. We are looking for a fast-paced, crypto-native reporter to join our APAC team.

This is a fully remote position, but the successful applicant must possess native-level fluency in English and be available to work the designated APAC shift. While your geographical location is flexible, coverage of these core hours is mandatory (8 AM – 4 PM AEST / 9 AM – 5 PM AEDT). The News Reporter will report directly to the Senior News Editor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent, high-quality reporting on news affecting cryptocurrency, blockchain, and emerging technologies.
• Actively contribute to the news cycle by pitching original story ideas, securing exclusives, and conducting high-level interviews.
• Rapidly turn around breaking news stories with accuracy and speed under tight deadlines.
• Liaise with major companies, projects, and industry leaders to ensure stories are balanced and offer a unique perspective.
• Develop and maintain a robust network of sources to secure exclusive comments and insider reports.
• Track and analyze emerging trends across the crypto and blockchain markets daily.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment, meeting strict KPIs and performance targets.
• Work closely with the art team, social media managers, and fellow reporters to elevate story impact.
• Craft headlines that are concise, engaging, and 100% factual.
• Produce copy that is thoroughly researched and free of grammatical, spelling, or factual errors.

Skills and Experience: 

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (Native-level English).
• 4+ years of proven journalism experience in blockchain, crypto, or fintech with a strong portfolio.
• Strong news instinct and the ability to identify stories that matter to a global audience.
• Demonstrated excellence in narrative structure and engaging storytelling.
• Ability to learn quickly and pivot "on the fly" as news develops.
• A deep, fundamental understanding of cryptocurrency, DeFi, and blockchain technology.

Preferred qualifications: 

• Strong ability to work well within a remote team and the wider organization.
• Professional knowledge and mastery of AP style.
• Deep understanding of writing in the "inverted pyramid structure" and the concept of a 4-paragraph lead.
